SVA thesis project by Joshua Hester. You’ll Be Fine is a website featuring health topics on sex, drugs and video games aimed at young adults freshly out of college up to their mid-thirties.

While surfing the web last night I came upon the thesis project of Amy Wang. Very interesting project. Makes me want to go to gradschool!

“Ametrica!” is an awareness campaign to help convert the United States to the metric system. No one thinks about an act as routine as measuring, much less the impact it can have on education, economy, and health. Through bold numbers and subtle humor, viewers are initially invited to interact with the pieces and their environment such that they experience metric units directly, rather than through comparison with customary units (which perpetuates the problem of dependency on the old units). Those intrigued by the issue are then directed to visit the Ametrica! website for more information, interactive components, and motion graphics experiences.

I’ve been tinkering with this site for a while but now its time to officially “Launch it”. Bananas and Coffee is all about data and the different ways it can be displayed (information design). Each month I pick a new web technology to learn: css, jQuery, Google Charts, etc and then implement a visual display of the data. The inspiration for this site was taken from the amazing information design from Good Magazine. So please check it out!

(if you are already following me on twitter you know all about this site so please disreguard this blog post!)

The New York Times has an interesting article up about the design of our election ballots. They asked the AIGA to point out several design problems and offer a nice solution. See the interactive feature to read explanations of design problems/solutions.

Before / After

I love Chipotle. Their burritos are HUGE and amazing and marvelously delicious. I noticed instructions on the back of the napkin and thought it was a good placement of information design :)
