Its always great to hear that my "worst part" about being a freelancer isn't just mine. I don't like invoicing. I love getting paid, but I just don't like generating invoices. I'm sure I could remedy that with using some online program to handle it for me, but even so. I love how even though you know your fear is waking up and not getting any new jobs you still choose to push your own way of doing things as far a possible.

Thanks for sharing with us Kevin…its great to hear that even rockstar designers sometimes still have to deal with with the drudgery that the rest of us do. Keep it up.

@Liz: I have had similar experiences! No one in a position to hire a graphic designer, that I have come across, has ever blinked twice about any of my quirk or wit. It is rather like the scene in Mission Hill where Jim is at work and the boss says, "Keep it up and I don't care if you grow three beards!"

I am (and as I can tell, you are as well) always respectful of clients, their projects, deadlines, goals and money. I make them money, they keep me fed (and inked). It is a lovely system!

this is awesome! I totally relate to you Kevin on the "doing it my way" thing. I had a meeting just yesterday with a very conservative client at their office and the second i walked in the door they were complimenting me on my cat-eye glasses and my tattoo for my cat. Ha! ...Being on your own, it is great to know people are working with you cause they respect YOU and YOUR WORK.
