oh man do I miss soccer! I played indoor for a bit when I was younger, but found that it was just a constant spring (i played midfield….back and forth back and forth heh).
Then I got the privilege of playing goalie…and that sucked. heh. Indoor soccer is just CRAZY!!!
• Give myself a break to facebook or chat with a friend online.
• Play &/or snuggle with my kitty can in the middle of the day
• clean the house
• work on a non-work art/design project
• music (listening to, dancing to and singing along with)
• long aimless walks through the city
• laying on my rooftop in the sunshine
-my top relaxing hobby: taking hikes in the great outdoors
-mindlessly organizing comic books, papers, and everything else
-sketching
-any beach time
-personal art/design projects
-taking photos
-experimenting with new techniques
-taking long walks
-blogging & reading blogs
-writing in a journal
-hanging out with friends or indulging in a long conversation
-reading
-imitating voices heard on the radio
-singing and dancing by myself when nobody is looking
-planning a new travel adventure
-going crazy on the backyard weeds
-candle lit baths. seriously, it helps.
-YOGA
-swimming
-Head banging to ACDC
Things I try to avoid:
-eating sweets… ice cream please (good every once in awhile)
-crying myself to sleep
-excessively checking my email
-staying up late to try and “catch up” on leisure time
-alcohol
-watching television
-taking myself too seriously
-not appreciating what I already have
-reading the news before I go to sleep
Stay away from coffee, even though is my addiction
-Go for a run
-Music (is usually the best therapy)
- I love going to a store close to my place “wacko” http://www.soapplant.com/
You can find all kinds of things, great books, t shirts, some decoration items
- I hate to admit it, but I love oreo cookies (sometimes I buy a package and eat them watching a movie)
Currently: I’m on a poster-a-week kick. My girlfriend is giving me a personal flaw, and I’m showing her that I get it and will fix it. It’s easy to get motivation with her always asking about the projects.
Oh, and this week it’s Patience.
Other ways I stay inspired: Constant cataloging of books, video games, and records. Being unsteadily employed has left a lot of room open for inspiration and creativity to flow.
How do I deal with stress?
I have headaches and angry thats how I deal…
Personally I get stressed a lot my web design company is mega busy with a lots of new and existing clients who all want a piece of me it seems, at the moment I don’t deal with it very well but there are a lot of great tips here so hopefully I can put them into practice. Mike has a good idea of what not to do…I think I should listen up or maybe just masterbate more.
Sometime the best way to get over work stress is to move away from anything work related, but if you’re like me & think about design more when not actually designing. You need to put your mind elsewhere, I find cleaning very therapeutic. Laughing my head off also seems to work & play some loud music that helps! But don’t play it if you’re working through the night!
Renee says:
I have two ways I blow of stress.
Healthy Way: I play indoor soccer, year ’round. It’s a great way to blow off pent up aggression once a week.
Not Healthy Way: Go to UDF and get a big brownie sundae. It might not be healthy, but it makes me smile!

I’ve came to the realization that my anxiety and generally high stress levels are what makes me .. well .. me.
The things I try to do in order to relax are ride the fixie, watch a movie with the gf, drink too much beer/alcohol or bitch until I feel better.
