Branding and identity design is quite possibly the most difficult aspect of graphic design. Afterall, we are our own most difficult client. I found some creative names of Freelancer/design firms that were memorable and made me smile.
Carrot Creative
Love the identity of this firm - its very whimsical. They also have a good sense of humor (see carrot obama logo) Carrot Creative is a design firm based in NYC.

Zigbot Media
Whats not to love about naming your freelance business after your pet?
Zigbot Media is a one man shop owned by Bryan D. Hughes.
CMD+SHIFT Design
Love the mac keyboard shortcut reference! CMD+SHIFT Design is owned and operated by Liz Andrade.
Woot Studio
Woot is a term of excitement used by nerds from all geographic regions.
From the urban dictionary:
“w00t” was originally an trunicated expression common among players of Dungeons and Dragons tabletop role-playing game for “Wow, loot!” Thus the term passed into the net-culture where it thrived in video game communities and lost its original meaning and is used simply as a term of excitement.
Woot Studio is run by Patrick McCoy.
Tiny Mouse Design
This is my take on branding my freelance design efforts. I wanted something that was memorable and cute - hence the little mouse nibbling away at the e :). Like Zigbot media my business is also named after a pet.
Tiny Mouse Design is run by me ![]()

Thanks Nikki. Interesting to see my logo posted on something. I also wanted to comment. When I originally thought up the name it came from: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/w00t
It originally means “We Own the Other Team”. The other team being my competition.
The internet slang also comes from first person shooter games which I am heavily addicted to.

Thanks Niki. I would tell Zigbot, but all she wants to hear about is breakfast.

After spending so much time with creating business names, product names etc myself I can only agree it is difficult however it is also about having some sense of balance is it not?
Having a cute name is fine but if your market can’t relate it to what you do somehow then the real impact is lost. The solution of course is to spend a whole lot of money creating brand identity.
