I use the netvibes widget, 'cause i don't want another application running all the time. I use netvibes for pretty much everything - feeds, Facebook, Gmail, Myspace, bookmarks, to-do list, job hunting... :P

Anyway, it works okay for twitter. Nothin' fancy, just follow and update, and sometimes it's fairly slow but i blame twitter on that one.

I think there are a couple of firefox plugins that are fairly popular, but I have yet to try them. I have yet to find a perfect client myself but what I REALLY want is just for Twitter to be reliable and UP all day long.

After experimenting with a lot of the clients out there, twhirl is by far my favorite. It will really shine when the Twitter requests/hour limit goes back up.

The other thing about twhirl is that they are adding support for other apps (FriendFeed) and integrating with other Twitter apps that people have developed (like Summize and Twhurl URL shortening).

I use snitter at work when I'm on my thinkpad and twitterific at home when I get to power up my mac. For the most part I just want something clean and with a small footprint. Because I have multiple twitter accounts now I have also been using netvibes.com with another widget powered by summize.com to monitor replies because those seem to get lost so easily. I assume you could do the same with igoogle and use your own design ;)

You always pick such great topics to cover. I had heard of three out of the four but not snitter. I use Twhirl and have been very happy with it. Now if Twitter could just get itself straightened out we would be all set.

By the way welcome to the Twitter support group and I too am an addict. My name is Prepressology...
