Hello, my name is Niki, and I’m a Twitter addict. I use it on the web, on my phone, and with a client program on my desktop. This brings me to my deleima. Which Twitter client to use? There are SO many!
Snitter
I origianlly went with Snitter because its pretty, and very easy to use and made by Mr. Snook. It also has some skinning options (via css) which pleases the designer in me (theres also a flickr pool of customized snitter screenshots) . Snitter works on mac and pc (which is good for me, i used it at home and at work) and has a url shortning service built in. It also plays a lovely little song for you if you tweet exactly 140 characters. Snitter is by far the best twitter client ive used so far. But after a while it just stopped working for me, not sure if it was snitter, or twitter that was the culprit, so my search went onward!
Twhirl
At first Twhirl seemed alot like Snitter (i think they stole the logo idea…dont know which came out first). It has the usual features: url shortening service, color schemes, notifications, sounds etc. Twhirl also has tweetcan searches and twitpic abilities built in, which is quite nifty I am still currently using twhirl at home on my mac (its PC compatible too!).
Digsby
I’ve already blogged about Digsby before, but ive been having problems with it freezing and its getting slightly annoying. They also do not have the mac version out. But its still a good all in one program with IM, Facebook, Twitter and some other things that I dont use.
TwitBin
TwitBin is stands out because its not a desktop client, but rather an extension for FireFox. You click a little button on your FF toolbar and just like magic TwitBin appears! This is quite nifty, but for some reason it makes me log in all the time. It will also show the public timeline which is kinda cool.
Twitterific

A reader recommended this client, but I have never used it. Looks like its made by the peeps at Icon Factory. Just noticed that its mac only…booo. I’ll have to try it out at home and write more about it later!
So thats my review of twitter clients that I have used. Do you guys have any other suggestions? What do you use? Which works best?

You always pick such great topics to cover. I had heard of three out of the four but not snitter. I use Twhirl and have been very happy with it. Now if Twitter could just get itself straightened out we would be all set.
By the way welcome to the Twitter support group and I too am an addict. My name is Prepressology…

I use snitter at work when I’m on my thinkpad and twitterific at home when I get to power up my mac. For the most part I just want something clean and with a small footprint. Because I have multiple twitter accounts now I have also been using netvibes.com with another widget powered by summize.com to monitor replies because those seem to get lost so easily. I assume you could do the same with igoogle and use your own design

After experimenting with a lot of the clients out there, twhirl is by far my favorite. It will really shine when the Twitter requests/hour limit goes back up.
The other thing about twhirl is that they are adding support for other apps (FriendFeed) and integrating with other Twitter apps that people have developed (like Summize and Twhurl URL shortening).

I think there are a couple of firefox plugins that are fairly popular, but I have yet to try them. I have yet to find a perfect client myself but what I REALLY want is just for Twitter to be reliable and UP all day long.

I use the netvibes widget, ’cause i don’t want another application running all the time. I use netvibes for pretty much everything – feeds, Facebook, Gmail, Myspace, bookmarks, to-do list, job hunting…
Anyway, it works okay for twitter. Nothin’ fancy, just follow and update, and sometimes it’s fairly slow but i blame twitter on that one.
