Freaky in that nobody knows about what it is ... I agree with that. But we DO know what it is, and have a pretty good idea on what it will do with us in the future. In fact, genetic engineering and lab-grown meat will eventually eliminate much of the variation that causes problems today.

ABC radio national (Australian, not US) has a great group of podcasts that cover this topic from time to time. Anything is freaky when we don't know much about it, so do some research and eat up!

While we each must make our own decisions, I'm confident in my research that the food supply is safer today than it ever has been.

"Do you know what you eat? The DNA of genetically modified plants may contain the genes of insects, animals or even viruses." I hate the sensationalism that Greenpeace and the like spout out. Yes, this is very true, however the math doesn't add up to being dangerous. Chimps share 98% of our DNA. If you drink a several glasses of water (H O2), you'll be fine. If you drink several glasses of hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2), you'll die.

I'm more worried about countries where munitions are easier to obtain than food, personally.

freaky because theres so much CRAP in our food these days - its kinda scary! We have no idea what it will do to us 10, 20, 30 years down the road. Not that im some organic wacko or something, but its something that most americans dont think about at all.
